  • Cool Conveyer Belt Sushi

My last post was so sad huh? And then I just read noreen_n's post this morning. So sad.. what goes on out there in the world! It's good to be well-informed though. The media sensors a lot of important issues and topics. But anyway, here is something lighter and happier! =D

When I lived in Hong Kong, I loved to eat sushi in the popular conveyer belt sushi restaurants. These sushi restaurants were pretty pricey compared to the cheaper street food and teahouses available, but my Japanese friends told me that conveyer belt sushi in Japan is actually pretty casual and low-class for sushi standards.

This is an advanced conveyer belt sushi in Japan!

    • Essentially, the empty plates are put into a slot so that they can be cleaned and tallied up electronically. To encourage more eating, a slot machine game is available for the kids for every 5 dishes that are eaten.
    • There is a computer chip inside each plate, so when a dish has been on the conveyer belt for too long, it is automatically disposed of!
    • The conveyer belt is adjusted when there are only a few customers in the restaurant so that the belt line is shorter and you don't have to wait as long for your sushi to come around.
    • The sushi chefs know how much sushi to make because a computer system keeps track of how many customers and sushi plates are out there.

I smiled when I heard Utada Hikaru's "Automatic". Anyway, some more silly things. I think Hong Kong people super love hot dogs. I was at Genki Sushi, and I found this too much tho:

    Hot dog sushi! With ketchup....?

Kachino said that hot dogs are an aphrodisiac... That I don't know. My profs have never touched on aphrodisiacs because we look at nutrition in a more clinical view. Is it because hot dogs look like........? Hmm, no thanks, I wouldn't want to eat PHALLIC SUSHI haha, would anybody?

Look how many plates I can eat!
    Just kidding ^^ I had help~

I'm working on my next post, which will be on the marketing tricks of the grocery store. I might add in some weird stuff I saw in grocery stores in Hong Kong & China
