Can TV Help You Become Thinner and Healthier?
Not if you are mindlessly snacking on potato chips and candy! But there are some good shows out there that teach you exercise, diet, and/or cooking tips.

I really enjoy watching The Biggest Loser and I encourage everyone to watch it too! It premieres tomorrow (Tuesday, September 15) at 8/7c on NBC. I find watching the show's contestants absolutely inspiring. They work SO hard and accomplish SO much! They want to make a difference in their lives and they are there to make that change. It is amazing to see this transition.
However, the lifestyle that the Biggest Loser contestants endure is not realistic in real life. They train for hours per day and are guided and pushed by fierce personal trainers. But you can still see how much work the contestants endure. It will remind you that there is no easy way to weight loss. It takes lots of hard work! But seeing how much true emotion that the contestants show will also remind you that good health is WORTH IT.
I'm a big fan of Jillian Michaels as well. She is a woman that embodies strength and power. If I ever get a personal trainer, I'm going to tell him/her: "I want you to yell at me like Jillian Michaels and make me absolutely loathe you!!" No pain no gain!
Be sure to check out The Biggest Loser season premiere!

nah i think t just makes us lazy
get off ya butt
and get 2 the gym
There's a reason the contestants on The Biggest Loser can't keep the weight off. The kind of exercises and intake restrictions they're put on are not realistic at all. When they go home, they can't keep up with the same routine, so they inevitably gain the weight back.
It's never a good idea to start an exercise routine that you can't keep up with because it'll never end with sustainable weight loss. Like, running an hour every day during the summer because there's no school. 'Cause once schools starts, there would be no time to run an hour every single day, so all that gained muscle would atrophy... =[
depends if its a day where they don't show crap then probably make you want to do something else, but if you are too in to it then your pretty much lazy until its done. unless your watching Fit TV then yeah.
i've never watched biggest loser, but it sounds good and i'll probably watch it next time i see it on. and jillian frightens me a bit ha. but i really like the shows "last 10 pounds" and "bulging brides" on the fine living network (fln). they're pretty realistic as far as the steps they take to lose the weight.
@unfx - oh thx for the recommendations! I'll check those two shows out if I can find somewhere that streams them online. I love the biggest loser, but the season premiere was 2 hrs and that's a little too long for me = =
I've started watching the Ion Life network. ^-^ The Yuppie Channel? Or are they really on to something?
