Introducing theHealthRabbit.com
Hey All,
First of all, thank you for being here reading my blog. I have been writing i-Nutrition.xanga.com for over one year now, but I have definitely slowed down my writing ever since I got acceptance into an internship program. I tried to be too professional, but professional is boring. I've probably started writing 5-10 posts, but then gave up because I just couldn't make them sound interesting.
"Where is motivation?" I hear students ask this all the time when it comes to procrastination for midterms and finals. It's up to YOU and only YOU to find it. I have decided to experiment and try to utilize the Internet to drive my career. I have mentioned before that I have great plans for this blog, but no confidence to push through it. But I'm learning. I told a new friend about this blog and described it as "a range from boring facts to some really personal and deep stuff that I sometimes can't believe I shared." But some of my most popular posts have been the ones that addressed self-esteem. Writing this blog has helped me reflect and mature so much over the last year. I hope to continue to improve myself and this blog.
theHealthRabbit.com is my first step. The name i-Nutrition is actually something that I didn't think very much about. It really doesn't have much personality in it and heck, I don't even own a mac or any apple products!
theHealthRabbit.com represents both nutrition and myself. I hope to show more of my personality and experiences in this blog rather than just plain boring facts. I am not a vegetarian, but I like to eat "rabbit food"! We should all be trying to eat more fruits and vegetables to keep a healthier weight and prevent chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease.
You will also notice in my new site header that I officially have letters after my name! I am no longer an undergraduate student. I now hold a Bachelors of Applied Science degree in Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Guelph! (What a mouthful.)
Graduation is not the end of a long journey of education. Graduation is the start: the beginning of life and much more learning. I was so inspired by the speech at my convocation ceremony. This woman told all of us her rewarding life and career. Now, it is our time to start our own stories. Some of us may choose to follow the prescribed route of life. Get a job, go to work, settle down, and retire. Others will choose to write their own paths and stories, go many places in life, and gain many experiences. I want to be the latter.
I want to be innovative and creative. I want to write my own story.
Good-bye i-Nutrition @ Xanga

Congrats on the graduating. I will be in December...it just cannot come fast enough. I do love your posts though. I always find them interesting and informative! :D Look forward to more posts! Cute name too!
Congrat! I love your posts and look forward to what you will post in the future.
@blue_dragonfly420 - Thanks! it was a hard decision and I was definitely reluctant to change my name due to readership loss. But I have to keep moving forward and working hard :)
@Momo_Wakahisa - Thanks hun! I look forward to reading u too~!
Looking forward to more future posts.
Congrats on graduating!
Congratulations on graduating! I actually liked the name "iNutrition" too, but that's okay, I liked the well-researched and interesting content even more.
I don't know if you're subscribed to "IReallyLikeFood" but there are some absolutely terrible health claims on that thing. =/
Best of luck in this new venture :)
@Senlin - Thanks!! haha if I read healthkicker & ireallylikefood, I usually end up writing too many posts complaining about them or bashing them. I had to block healthkicker because they kept requesting to use my posts on their site. I just wish that I could update as frequently as they do. But yea at least I write and research my own content!
@kachino - bonne chance? merci beaucoup monsieur kachino! aujourd'hui, je change la classe. hier je suis en groupe B. Maintenant, je suis en group F...... F pour.... FML?!? J'ai peur... a little. haha... bonne fete du canada! P.S. can u help me with my homework this weekend? They gave me 10 "quebecois phrases/slang" and I need to decipher them! They told me to ask a francophone. You're the first person to ever call me an Anglophone :P
Since I am reading this blog from my subscription list, I suppose the transition is working?
BTW I suppose the price of canned lichees will never go back to a dollar a can, even watermelon the cheapest fruit will never go below $0.10/ pound....
congrats on graduation!!! :)
hey... congrats on grad!
i really like your posts and will still follow your new blog...
i do like the name i-Nutrition , but also curious about the health rabbit ^^
look forward to read the health rabbit posts ^^
what was your decision to go to Guelph instead of other university anyway? I just know a lot of my profs have a degree or two from there, that's it
@PPhilip - The transition seems to be going well except for that the search engines are still directing people to my old site, which sucks because the people looking up nutrition information won't be directed here. I wonder how long it takes for the search engines to update themselves!
Fruits and vegetables are generally more expensive than processed foods, which sucks! Plus they expire faster, so it's difficult for people with lower income to eat healthily.
@SeitekiChibiNeko - Thanks dear!!
@Amanda_Tomato - It'll still be a similar style, but I'll just encourage myself to share more about my personal experiences instead of talking about straight boring nutrition facts :) Thanks for being a long-time supportive reader Amanda!
@yelly - I was deciding between UBC in Vancouver and the University of Guelph in Ontario. They're really far apart! My family is in Vancouver, but I decided on the nutrition program at Guelph because they accepted me straight into the program in 1st year. At UBC, you have to study a general science program for 2 years before you apply to their nutrition program. The other thing is that I thought I might be happier in a smaller school and smaller town where I felt it would be easier to make friends. This was important to me. It bugged me a lot that many Asians believe UBC and UT are the best schools because they're the biggest. But I didn't want to go to such a competitive school where I heard students try to sabotage each other by ripping out important pages of library books so that no other student can read the material. Not a very supportive environment! Nutrition students at Guelph had to compete for an internship, but we were very helpful to each other when it came to projects, exams, and applications. Now that I'm done it all... I believe the best experiences you can get out of university are a positive/supportive learning environment, and the friendships you make that will last even after graduation :)
@theHealthRabbit - ermmm,
not really with the 2 years thing at UBC, unless you are referring to
the RD program. I got into the nutritional science program right from
first year, just not the RD program, which people would have to compete
for like pharmacy.
@theHealthRabbit - Yeah, no problem. Just get on msn during the weekend and I'll be able to help you on that "easy" assignment ;)
@yelly - Yup I was referring to the dietetics program. Oh cool so nutritional sciences! I want to check out UBC's farm this August. I want to learn more about sustainable agriculture and organic foods. I never took any kind of courses like this in Uni. How do you like your program?
congrats!!!!
health rabbit sounds cute :D
Weird, you have the exact same name as me.
I dig it! Very cute.
@nimbusthedragon - haha there are a lot of us. You're the third Elizabeth Lee that I've come across ;)
@theHealthRabbit - go to the farm when farmer's market is on saturday's, it's more fun that way i think. no idea if you can just walk around the farm to have a tour yourself. the program itself, parts of it seems to be forced in to teach the material, the sustainable part. not that much were new info, honestly. there was a course where all the students needed to take, and pretty much all of us hated it just because of the way it was structured. They were teaching us Problem Based Learning, but the cases and the TAs were kinda out of it and we got quite confused at what they wanted us to do.
