Good-Bye Research, Hello YouTube!
I started my research job around the same time that I started writing this blog. I have learned a lot from this position and it has helped pad my resume so much, but I'm glad to finally be finished my research work so that I can have time to focus on my own personal projects!
I have been wanting to expand my blog to make nutrition education videos on Youtube for a long time now. There are actually a lot of great blogs out there by dietitians and a few nutrition students, like myself. I asked myself, "What makes me different? What would make people want to read me?" After researching more, I realized that there is an empty niche out there for a Youtube nutrition channel that is innovative, fun, and interesting!
There are some dietitians on Youtube already, but I find their videos quite boring. No offense, but all they do is talk straight to the camera for a full 10-15 minutes! I can't even finish watching one of their videos because I get so bored. However, some of these videos get lots of views and comments. So I'm sure their information is useful and interesting for some. But I think they shove too much information in and do not think about how to captivate an audience.
So my goal is....
- To create a nutrition education channel on Youtube that is innovative, interesting, and full of fun skits and music!
I have the next month off. I begin my dietetic internship in October, but I'm hoping to get my channel started up now! I have a few friends in both Vancouver and Toronto that are excited to help me out. I am super excited too! I am working on a healthy breakfast video right now!
I'm planning to post up this video by tomorrow or the day after. There are a couple of scenes that I'm debating on whether or not to re-do. I am learning video editing 100% on my own. My background in filming and photography is nada! But I'm having fun learning!
So please check back to my blog soon! I hope I have your support in my new project!

wow, cool...
using youtube just because? could use viemo too :p
Yup, I'm a fan.
@yelly - I checked out Vimeo. Thanks for the tip! I guess I chose Youtube b/c it's more well-known.. and I guess I've just been amazed to see the careers that have launched off from Youtube. I'll research some more on Vimeo tho!
@theHealthRabbit - I think youtube is geared toward the general population, where anything and everything is there, and viemo is more targeted at the more pro people. They're still video hosting sites, in the very end
