  • World's Largest Woman Eats 30,000 Calorie Meal

I can't believe I never heard of this woman until now. She was in the Toronto Star recently for apparently consuming a 30,000 calorie Christmas dinner. From previous blog posts, you may know that I am personally against calling other people the word "fat." This woman drives me speechless because she actually wants to gain weight. Her goal weight is 1000 pounds.

Some people push the idea of "health at any size," meaning that bigger people can also be very fit. But this woman is not anywhere near health! She can barely move! She points out that she's eating lots of vegetables, but it's just iceberg lettuce (pretty much no nutrients) and tomatoes. And then adds motherload portions of white bread, processed meats, and french fries.

This woman's body mass index (BMI) is reportedly 103.9. BMI only takes height and weight into consideration; however, research studies have shown an association between high BMI and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers. A recently published study from the New England Journal of Medicine (1) used other studies to gather data on 1.46 million white adults and identified 160,087 deaths. The study concluded that overall, all-cause mortality was lowest in people with a BMI between 20.0 and 24.9. Although a higher BMI does not cause death, an extremely high weight/BMI generally goes hand-in-hand with an artery-clogging diet.

So I feel really sorry for this woman, especially since she has a young child. I read that she has diabetes and high blood pressure, but I couldn't find any other information about her medical conditions. At least she says that she feels happy. Is she really happy or is she just delusional? Unfortunately she will die at an early age. But her death may set a helpful warning to others to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Ohhh dear. From that she seems like she's a good mom, too. I'm all for letting people live how they want, but if I was close to her I'd want an intervention. :<

I agree with the points you make.  At least she's happy with who she is, confidence is powerful.

you can't be f@cking serious, happy with who she is? what example is she setting for the kid? she can be happy with who she is if

    1) she gets not government benefits relating to her health/immobility2) The kid gets taken away and put in proper careanyone that says otherwise is simply delusional, parents who abuse drugs get their children taken away and put into proper care, because like this woman they too are "happy with who they are".

yeah, that's disgusting. i thought i was hideous and im only 40 pounds overweight. gotta call it like it is, she isn't big because of her frame and it isnt muscle bulk. she is fat, and worse than that she is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle. it's just as bad as all the little annas running around.

This is so sad on so many levels. Because even if she is happy even if she likes this, she's a mother and it's not just about her. While I like to think people can be healthy even if they're overweight (or underweight for that matter) it's IMPOSSIBLE to argue with the fact that once you get to a certain extreme, it's impossible to maintain any level of "health", really. She's got a young child, and she could probably go at any time, and it's not like it's something that wasn't preventable, it's not even like she's struggling with her weight like some people do, people who have issues and want to be healthy, but struggle with food addiction, or just getting the weight off... she like consciously CHOOSES this.
Which if she dies, it will be all the harder for the kid to cope, especially when they grow up enough to realize that this isn't a normal thing, and that mommy CHOSE to be unhealthy, and therefore chose to die instead of stick around to see their kid grow up.

And then if she lives to see her kid grow up, it's not all that much better. The amount of teasing the kid will receive, the fact that the kid will learn these unhealthy habits from the mother, and then may end up with a weight problem themselves, really having not much of a choice in the matter, the fact this kid is gonna have to watch their mother be sick most of their life, and possibly may end up caring for their sick mother because of choices she consciously made is just horrible.

I hate situations like this, honestly. It's horrible. Because the kid doesn't get a choice, and it's going to effect them adversely as well.

If it was just her, I almost think I could understand it better. I mean, people choose to do a lot of crazy unhealthy stuff, and if it's just effecting you, and it's your choice and your happy,  I suppose it's more acceptable. But with a kid in the picture? No. Just no.

Parents have to give up all sorts of crazy dreams when they become parents, sometimes that's just how it is. Because you want to set a good example and be around for your child, and it's not all about you anymore.

I feel like a bad person, but I laughed when she said that it was "unhealthy" to gain weight through weight gain shakes. I honestly feel bad, because this is such a sad situation.

She does seem delusional though. I mean, like gaining weight through junk food (ice cream, fries... while she insists she's MOSTLY eating healthy, she's eating tons of junk along with the healthy stuff... even if it's more "healthy" than not, she's still getting a lot of the junk too) , or eating ANYTHING in excess is healthy. Honestly, I doubt it's any less healthy, but she seemed like she really meant that. She has some issues if she honestly seems at all concerned about her health and she's doing this, because there is no way something this is extreme could ever be healthy, period. This woman probably needs serious help, but I doubt she can get it in time to save her. =/

This is terrible. Putting her health at risk for a record? This is crazy. Is she ok in the head? I would want an evaluation to see why she wants to live this way. And where is her family?! This is like a slow suicide. I know I'm a bit overweight but this is morbidly obese!

  • searchingxforxtruthxxx

I didn't even know that bmi was possible without killing the person before they got there! That is scary! Very scary.

    There's always extremists...

WOW!! that is a HUGE goal,. Pun intended.

  • Elizabeth_Ho

OMG! That is not healthy at all and now I thought I'm fat but look at that. goshh....

  • Stitch_Sander

if she ever decide on losing weight, all the best to her. I am sure it would take just as much to gain those poundage as to lose them, maybe more. i think i am feeling kind of ironic now that i am thinking about gaining a little muscle by jogging outside right this moment.

  • innocentsinc

Very scary her life style over eating the wrong foods will likely lead to serious health problems and a early death. Proof consuming the wrong food and lack of exercise can be harmful to your health.. . She look to be young enough to make a change. I've seen it don't on countless weight loss shows like biggest loose,  you are what you eat and the MTV show i used to be fat. Say No to processed foods, fatty foods and sugars.  She just need to think of her children and seek help.

Oh wow... Give it a few years, and she's gonna sink into deep depression, cuz the weight's literally just gonna drag her down. I feel so bad. But I'm baffled... How can anybody find a body like that to be sexy? I seriously heaved a few times when she was shaking her stomach.
